John and Diane Stockham Geography Emeritus at Coastline Community College attended NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC’S “A WALK IN NEW YORK” in June. They started off with a lecture at the Skyscraper Museum and then set out on foot to visit and explore these historic skyscrapers built between 1902 -1931 during the golden age of skyscrapers in New York City. First visiting the first skyscraper the Flatiron Building and continuing to see the Woolworth Building, the Chrysler Building with its stainless steel spiral and then the Empire State Building. On the second day they walked Wall Street visiting the New York Stock Exchange and Federal Hall where George Washington was inaugurated on April 30, 1789 as our first President.
They will be sharing their experience and pictures with their several Geography Classes they teach in the Emeritus program at Coastline Community College.
