Thomas Chambers Report from the 2008 Creating Paths of Opportunity

I attended the “Creating Paths of Opportunity Conference” in San Francisco, January 23-26, 2008. This was an educational technology conference and provided the latest advances in edtech. I found the following programs especially useful:
  • Skills Tutor Program for online tutoring
  • WYNN, allowing more productivity in internet research
  • Partnership in Literacy, an online community using MOODLE, a course management system
  • Supporting Students Comprehension of Course Content, active strategies for reading and studying
  • Change the Book, Not the Reader, developing and using customized textbooks
The conference was an excellent starter for my spring semester online political science course and I am grateful to Coast CCA and the District for allowing me to attend.
