CoastCCA.com is the winner of the California Teachers Association (CTA) 2009-10 Ralph J. Flynn Memorial Award for best web site in the state 599-999 members.

A few years ago the CTA State Council voted to establish and begin charging for a “Mandatory Voluntary Contribution” of $20 per year. The first year we part-timers were not included and then the next year they required that the $20 be included in your dues. The CTA officials assured me that they had sent a form explaining the contribution to each of you to complete to request a refund of the $20. Now I have secured the form and I am including it here and in your newsletter and it is also downloadable from our website, coastcca.com for your convenience.

If you want this refund, complete the form now and send it in to the address on the form. Mark the form with an X in the last box “$20 Refund”, which is already marked for your convenience. Also once you have sent in your form, you need not ever send in another form. Once is all it takes forever.

Medical Arts Endorsement for 2010-11
Attention anyone teaching in the following categories—occupational and physical therapists, dental hygienists, athletic trainers, and nurses—that 2010-11 AIG Member Companies (AIG) medical art endorsement extended educators employment liability (EEL)coverage is available. Only members who provide specified services in the occupations mention are eligible for the AIG medical arts endorsement. CTA will pay the premium for eligible members Agency fee payers are not eligible for this coverage.

If you qualify and are interested, contact Pres. Dr. Price at barbara@coastcca.com, she will provide you with further information and assist in getting you this benefit.

Part-time California Community College instructors are entitled to unemployment benefits when we are not working. This includes summers and breaks between quarters/semesters.
